Redefining Efficiency for Legal Professionals

Case Crafter emerged as the evolution of Timeline Presenter, a powerful app designed to streamline case management for lawyers. As a Product Designer, I played a key role in shaping the UI, ensuring a seamless and intuitive experience across the app and its official website. The result? A fully optimized digital platform that empowers legal professionals to focus on their clients without friction.

Starting point: Timeline Presenter

Starting point: Timeline Presenter

Before Case Crafter, there was Timeline Presenter—a functional yet outdated tool for legal professionals.

While the core idea was strong, the user interface lacked modern usability standards, making navigation and workflow efficiency challenging.

The Problem

Timeline Presenter was already a robust tool, but it needed additional features in its PDF editor, improvements in filters and tags, and usability enhancements to make the user experience more intuitive. All of this had to be aligned with the company's new brand and visual identity. Below, you can see two examples of how Timeline Presenter looked before the redesign.

Before and After

Now, I present some project screens that highlight the improvements made to the Timeline Presenter layout, focusing on user experience (UX). The goal was to enhance the product's intuitiveness and ensure greater design standardization, resulting in a more cohesive and efficient user experience.

PDF Editor - Before

Before: The old file explorer displayed all files in a simple list without timestamps, making it hard to identify documents. There was no search for files, only documents, and users couldn’t collapse the panel for full-screen viewing. Icons lacked consistency, and the Present button was only available when editing was disabled, making navigation unintuitive.

There was no search for files, only documents, and users couldn’t collapse the panel for full-screen viewing. Icons lacked consistency, and the Present button was only available when editing was disabled, making navigation unintuitive.

PDF Editor - After

After: Users can now switch between the timeline and file explorer via the top bar, with quick access to the Present button. The left panel features real-time search and folder navigation, while the right panel offers better document editing tools. A redesigned PDF editor, collapsible panels, and standardized icons create a cleaner and more efficient experience.

The search bar lacked visibility, requiring extra clicks, and filters were cluttered, making customization inefficient. Additionally, all filters were displayed together, forcing users to manually hide unwanted options.

Feedback

This is what the client say about this project and my work.

Raphael has been our go-to designer for the past two years, and he has designed our brand identity, website, application UI, and even the pitch presentation we used when looking for investors. He is highly skilled in Figma and Photoshop, and always delivers stunning results. He's able to convert my rough pencil sketches into the images I imagine in my head!

Raphael also has great communication skills and is easy and pleasant to talk to. He is so much more than a freelancer and he has become a great colleague! I can highly recommend Raphael!”
